If you are looking for an alternative to school or you know design is your pathway, achieve NCEA and more focused on design, digital media or fashion design. This programme includes two qualifications to make sure you get the right start towards a Design career.

It doesn’t matter if you are a mature student wanting to begin your creative career or if you are looking for an alternative to school to get NCEA focused on graphic design and digital media, we will help you start the journey to use your talent as a career.

Full-Time

Qualification:  NCEA – Level 2

Credits:  80

Duration:  26 Weeks

Entry requirements:

Open entry to students without a level 2 qualification. Those with an existing level 2 qualification in a different field of study may still be eligible for this course.

Applicants will be required to submit multiple examples of artwork in any medium, along a written statement (300 words) outlining who you are, interests and goals within your chosen course.

This programme is a great introduction for anyone who wants to explore their creative talent and begin a formal qualification towards a career in design. Learn a wide range of skills to become a designer.

Full-Time

Qualification: NCEA – Level 2  |  New Zealand Certificate in Art and Design Level 2

Credits: 120

Duration: 36 Weeks

Entry requirements:

Open entry to students under 20 years old without a level 2 qualification. Those with an existing level 2 qualification in a different field of study may still be eligible for this course. Enquiries welcome.

Part-time courses at The Design School let you study design in a commercial style studio with industry level equipment but continue with the other subjects you love.

Level 3 - Design

Step on to the Graphic Design, Fashion Design or Digital Media pathway or extend yourself beyond NCEA. This course will build your design and technical skills in an industry styled environment and put you on the fast track to achieving your career goals.

This level 3 programme is for creative students who want to extend their creative skills and knowledge base or people wanting to change pathways to engage in a design career.

Credits:  60

Duration:  20 Weeks

Duration:  39 Weeks
